Matilda Enyedy, a former resident of Spirit River, passed away at the QEII Hospital in Grande Prairie, on Tuesday, July 3, 2018, at the age of 90 years.

Matilda (nee Simon) was born in Prudhomme, SK, on October 18, 1927. She and her husband and family moved to their farm in Bonanza in 1963. Barney and Matilda moved to Spirit River in 1980. In November 2017, she moved to the Lakeview Lodge for Seniors in Clairmont.

Matilda was a loving mother, kind, loyal, strong, and nurturing lady. People who knew her would describe her as a sweet gentle soul, and a true friend.

An avid gardener, Matilda had a gift for creating beautiful flowerbeds and landscapes. She won several “Best Yard” awards while living in Spirit River.

Matilda will be sadly missed by her sons: Don (Yvette), Jim (Debbie), and Les (Joann); daughter Rita; 9 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and 1 great great-grandchild.

She was predeceased by her husband Barney (1989), great-grandson Blaine (2009), and son Jerry (2016).

A Celebration of her Life will be held in mid-September.

Memorial donations may be made to Heart and Stroke of Alberta (Unit 109, 10126 120 Ave., Grande Prairie, AB, T8V 8H9).

Dearest Mom,

May you now walk amongst your Lord in Heaven with grace and free of pain.

God Bless!

My condolences to Rita and family. I always enjoyed meeting up with Matilda around town and we always talked about our flowers and gardens. She was such a kind and gentle soul.

Your Mother is one of the sweetest people that I have ever been privileged to know in my whole life. Many lovely afternoons were spent visiting with her and helping Matilda last year. I was very impressed by the love that was shown to her by you and your brothers and daughter. It was very very evident how much that you all loved her.
