Obituary For Maureen Margaret O'Rourke Biegel

Maureen Biegel, longtime resident of Grande Prairie, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 19, 2017. She was surrounded by her loving family. Her spirit shone strong as she faced her last days on earth with courage and dignity.

Maureen Margaret O’Rourke was born in Westlock, AB, on March 1, 1940 to Ruby and Louis O’Rourke. Her family moved to Elmworth, AB in the early 1940's. She later moved to Grande Prairie in 1958 where she met and married Frank Biegel. They had four children.

Maureen is survived by her son Kevin (Angeli) and his children Chelsea (Taylor Goertzen), Joshua, and Tanner of Chilliwack BC; son Curtis (Myrna) and his daughters Mandy and Natasha of Teepee Creek; daughter Margo (Joe Hesse) and her children Alisha (David Cormack), Adam (Kelsey), Stephanie, Shantel, Emma, and Mikayla of Grande Prairie; and daughter Kerry (Brian Hesse) and her children Kristina (David Auger), Cody (Kiera), Sarah (Kirby Tapson), Jenna (Dallas Laboucan), Colton, Ashley, Chloe, Selah, and Mia of Grande Prairie.

Maureen was predeceased by her husband Frank (Sept. 2009), brother Pat O’Rourke (June 2017), mother Ruby (1988) and father Louis (1966).

Maureen entrusted her life to Jesus Christ as her Lord and Saviour, and was a faithful and devoted member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.

A Prayer Service will be held on Sunday, June 25, 2017, at 7:30pm, at St Joseph Catholic Church in Grande Prairie (10404 102 St).

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, June 26, at 12:00pm, at St Joseph Catholic Church. Interment to follow at Grande Prairie Cemetery (84^th Ave. and 112^th St.). Please join the family for a time of fellowship in Tranquille Hall at St Joseph following the interment.

Maureen, was truly an inspiration to many as she lived out her life in deep faith, courage, wisdom and strength. She will be dearly missed!

Betty Lou, Gail, Maureens family and Elaine, Sending you sincere sympathy from Don and I. Such a sad time to lose Pat and Maureen in such a short time. I just pulled up some pictures of Maureen's visit to Ontario in Oct , 2011. Have some of her with Marg and Louise and I when we were together at that time. There were a lot of stories shared during that visit. Growing up with Grandpa Paddy O'Rourke in our house with Mom and Dad we always heard and knew about our cousins in the west. I was so saddened when I heard of Maureen's passing. What a very special, kind, considerate ,caring and Christian lady she was!!!! She was also a wonderful mother as can be seen in her beautiful children. Her memories will live on for a long time through them.
