It is with great sadness we announce that, Melody Maria Perry, age 45, resident of Grande Prairie, AB, and formerly Fairview, AB, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 8, 2024, at the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital after her brave 2-year battle with cancer.

Melody was born April 6, 1979, in Bashaw, AB, to Roger and Wendy Mattie. Roger and Wendy raised Mel and her brothers in Alix, AB. You'd see Mel at local youth groups, drop in ball, partaking in figure skating, hunting/fishing or simply cruising around once she got her license. These were the many activities Mel loved to do. She was a 1997 graduate of Alix MAC School.

After graduating, Mel took roots up in the North. She and Rob welcomed their first born Kaythen into the world in September of 1999, and their second son Chance, in November of 2000. Mel branched off on her own with her two boys in Fairview for many years. She worked long hours to make sure they had everything they could. In June of 2011, Mel was blessed with her third child, Tyree.

In 2016, Mel met her love, Conrad. Mel and Conrad had lots of adventures together. They enjoyed travelling, camping, fishing and experiencing all life had to offer. Conrad supported Mel’s love of art by gathering rocks, canvasses and ideas. He provided his encouragement in all her painting projects. Together they built a happy life with their combined five children in Grande Prairie, AB.

Mel is survived by her husband, Conrad Bjorklund; three boys: Kaythen Perry, Chance Perry and Tyree Haas; stepdaughters: Brooke Bjorklund (Garrett Coates), and Shelby Bjorklund; mother Wendy Mattie; brothers: Chris Mattie (Ian Mitchell), and Trevor Mattie; grandmother Shirley Mattie; as well as many cousins, aunts and uncles.

Mel was predeceased by her father Roger Mattie, grandpa Oliver Mattie and her grandparents Fern and Vern Christensen.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 1, 2024, at 2:00 pm. It will be held at the EE Oliver Elementary School in Fairview, AB (11204 104 Ave.).
