Obituary For Melvin Gerard

Melvin “Mel” Gerard, resident of Grande Prairie, AB, left this world on Wednesday, July 14, 2021, as he lived life, quietly and peacefully. Mel grew up in Grande Prairie, and those fortunate enough to be in his small circle knew his huge heart and giving soul. As a young child, he loved to draw and developed his gift as time went on. He always had a pencil and sketch book near by. He loved to read and always had his nose in a book. Mel enjoyed the serenity of nature. He was a shy, quiet, humble man and had a sweet soul. His greatest joy was when he could bring joy and laughter to others. Mel will be immensely missed by his siblings: Mimi, Dwayne, and Donna; as well as numerous nieces, and nephews. Mel was a hero to his family. He was predeceased by his mother Winnie McLean; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and grandparents. As per Mel’s request, there will be no Funeral Service held. The family asks if you wish to honour their brother, do one random act of kindness with Mel in your heart.

I knew Melvin since he was 14 he was practically my neighbor in Grande Prairie Alberta, we did a lot of things together had a lot of fun and enjoyed our company together, fond memories of Melvin will always be close to my heart. Melvin and his mother were absolutely the finest of people, forgiving, caring, and loving people! I remember working on his first car together, It didn't go so well, but we had a lot of fun. Melvin was my friend we shared our teenage years together doing what teenagers do. He will be fondly remembered. Sincerely saddened by his passing.

To Mel's family I send my sincere condolences. I am shocked and saddened to hear of Mel's passing. He was an incredibly talented artist and a kind and caring soul. He will be missed posted by Kevin garrett
