Obituary For Melvin James Hollier
Melvin Hollier, resident of Grande Prairie, AB, formerly of High Level, AB, passed away on Wednesday, March 31, 2021, at home, at the age of 64 years.
Mel was born on April 22, 1956, in Saskatoon, SK, to Mary-Jane and Melvin Hollier Sr. He was raised in LaCrete, AB and High Level. He got his High School Diploma and Heavy Duty Mechanic ticket, and then worked as a heavy-duty mechanic for 37 years.
He loved painting, black powder riflery, fishing and camping. Mel was a kind man who loved his family and friends. His sense of humour always lead his conversations and view on life. Mel was an artist of many oil paintings, but his doodles on napkins and mail envelopes were his personal galleries that he would leave behind him as he went.
Melvin will be sadly missed by his wife of 28 years, Sheila Hollier; children: Erik Hollier, Wesley Hollier and Kailey Hollier; grandchildren Rylan Hollier and Emmilia Hollier; sister TrevorLee Schmidt; along with many family members and friends.
He was predeceased by his mother, Mary-Jane Hollier; father Melvin Norman Hollier; and brother Norman Bradley Hollier.
A private, invitation-only visitation will be held on Sunday, April 4, 2021, at 3:00pm.
Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society AB/NWT Division (200, 325 Manning Rd NE, Calgary, AB, T2E 2P5).
