Obituary For Merle Logan
Merle Lester Logan a lifetime resident of Webster AB, passed away on Thursday May 12, 2016 with family at his home.
Merle was born March 21, 1935 at Johanna’s in Sexsmith, AB to Louis and Nellie (Knutson) Logan. He started school in North Sexsmith and when he was 11, his family moved to Webster. As a young man Merle worked various jobs: threshing crew, hauling pulpwood, at a sawmill, cat operator and logging. In 1959 he married Alida Myers of Edmonton. In 1964 they purchased a quarter of land and built a new home. This is where they raised their four children. They started raising cattle, a love and lifestyle Merle continued until his passing. To supplement the farming he started to drive school bus, a job he had for 33 years. He took pride in this job and his reputation was known as the bus all kids wanted to ride on.
Merle loved to tell stories and had a great sense of humor. His quick wit kept people of all ages laughing and he loved to laugh. One of Merle greatest joys was to saddle his horse on Sunday and head to the cabin. He loved having his family join him and the more people that came the happier he was. He found many long lasting friendships on those rides. He rode his horse to that cabin last October at the age of 80.
Merle is survived by his wife of 57 years Alida, his children: David (Mary) Logan, Linda (David) Renner, Kevin (Chantelle) Logan and Wendy Logan; grandchildren: Megan, Becky (Justin), Heather (Trent), Bradley, Caiden, Maisie, Alyssa and Colton; great-grandchildren: Charlie, Austin and Claire.
Merle was predeceased by his father Louie and mother Nellie; sisters: Bernette Grotkowski and Diane McInnis.
A Funeral Service will be held Saturday May 21, 2016 at 2:00pm, at Webster Community Hall in Webster, AB.

My deepest condolences to you all at this very sad and difficult time. Merle has touched so many lives and we will all miss his amazing humor and story telling. It was guaranteed that he had you smiling the entire time. I often think back of the great times we shared on the group camping trips to Sherman Meadows which always included Wendy and Colton. Merle was so proud of all his children and treated them as very close friends wanting to spend as much time as possible with them. We will miss you Merle. .

Heartfelt sympathy to Alida and family. Merle always had a smile on his face. He was my favorite bus driver as he never got angry or upset with anyone on his bus. We always had a fun time when Merle was in the room as oldtime stories and jokes were part of most conversations. I know this is such a difficult time but his suffering is over and now he is at peace. What a horrible disease cancer is, as I watched both my parents die from it also. My deepest condolensces to you, Alida.
