Obituary For Michael Biron

It is with sadness we announce the passing of Michael “Mike” Biron, at the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital, on Saturday, June 15, 2024, at the age of 59 years.

Michael was born in Grande Prairie, AB, on May 20, 1965, to Andy and Marion Biron.

Michael was very active in the community and has made many friends along the way. He was also quite involved with the North Peace Bracket Racing Association, which includes Beaverlodge, AB, Dawson Creek, BC, Fort St. John, BC and Prince George, BC.

Michael was an avid traveller before his health prevented him from enjoying the many cruises that he went on with his best friend Tammy and her family.

Michael worked for the Alberta Gaming and Liquor Commission, looking after the many machines throughout the region. He also worked for Northern Bottling for many years, keeping their equipment operational.

Michael is survived by his mother Marion Biron (Dave) Godin, sister Tracy (Bruce) Hartman, niece Hannah Hartman, nephew Dylan Hartman, and special friend Tammy Meinecke, as well as cousins and friends.

Michael was predeceased by his father Andy Biron; aunts and uncles: Shirly, Marvin, Ruby and Ted; cousin Norman Jackson; grandparents Clarence and Isabel Wicks; and special friend Rudy Meinecke.

The family would like to thank the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital ICU and Unit 12 staff for the wonderful care he received.

As per Michael’s wishes, no Funeral will be held. He will be cremated with his ashes being interred at the City of Grande Prairie Columbarium.

There will be a Celebration of Life for Michael at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, Memorial donations can be made to the Kidney Foundation of Canada, the Diabetes Canada foundation or a charity of your choice.

Dear Michael, you were always such a kind and gentle soul with such a warm smile. You had been very much in my thoughts recently; our 40 year grad anniversary had me in a profound reflective state of mind. Glad to discover in your obituary that you lived these last fourty years to the fullest. I hope you had the chance, through social media, to hear the song that Lynnette Hartman and I put out to mark this latest anniversary. My sincere condolences to your surviving family members as well as your friends and acquaintances. May you rest in peace.

So sorry to hear of Mike's passing. We worked at McDonald's together and whenever there was a toaster of something not working, we'd ask Mike to have a look at it if he was working that day. More often than not, he'd get it up and running if we had the parts available.
