Dear Aunt Lucy, Cathy, Christine and Michael, My deepest heartfelt condolences for the loss of your husband and father. I was so saddened to hear the news. Even now, I cry as I write this. Although we were on opposite sides of the continent and saw each other very infrequently, that never stopped me from loving my godfather and uncle. I will never forget being so inspired by him when I was growing up. He had a heart of gold, a wonderful sense of humor , was a super strong athlete , an avid outdoorsman and an amazing story teller. As a Ukrainian Canadian, he was able to conquer prejudice , rise up and succeed in a very difficult environment. I was and am still so very proud of him. We had a fencing sword match on the day when the pictures were taken in Toronto in the video you posted. He let me win! I still remember the great fishing stories he had to spin. The further up north the better they were. He could even make a story about picking Saskatoon berries interesting. I will always treasure the times we did have to spend together, the visits in Toronto, in Windsor, in Chatham when the stories went on to early in the morning around my dad's little fire pit, and your visit to our home in Milton for my Mom's birthday. I am ashamed that I haven't yet made it to Alberta. I know that the outdoors was always part of heaven for him in a very special way. I know now that whenever I am outdoors, he will always be there with me in my heart. Linda and I wish all of you peace and comfort in this difficult time. We both know what is like to lose someone very close in the family. All my love, Joe

Watched your video. What an enjoyable glimpse at Smiling Mike! He lived a long life, caught many fish and picked many berries and was obviously loved by his family. My sympathies to all of the family for your loss.
