Obituary For Mildred Jean Nordhagen (nee Anderson)
Our beloved mother and grandmother, Mildred (Millie, Mil) passed away on Friday, April 5, 2024 at the Beaverlodge Municipal Hospital at the age of 94 years.
Mildred was born on September 11, 1929 in Grande Prairie, AB to Helen and Carl Anderson.
Mildred grew up mostly in the Hythe area and often shared memories of the fun she had growing up with her brother Bernard “Barney,” her Baker cousins, close friends and her horse Arctic Gold Dust.
In 1949, Mildred married Elvin Nordhagen and together they raised six children on their farm east of Hythe. She loved the farm and lived there most of her life, only moving to Pearson Place recently.
Mildred was a fiercely independent person who appreciated creativity. She was an adventurous artist who was never afraid of a challenge, whether it was painting a picture, carving, knitting, carpentry, cake decorating, upholstering or sewing (to name a few).
Mildred is survived by her six children: Jim (Ann), Lorna (Chris), Linda (Peter), Jane (Terry), Janet (Claus) and Marilyn (Phil); as well as 16 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren. We are so grateful for the many years we had together and will miss her dearly.
Mildred was predeceased by her husband Elvin Nordhagen; parents Carl and Helen Anderson; brother Carl Bernard Anderson, parents-in-law Caroline and Christian Nordhagen; sisters and brothers-in-law Palmer, Oscar and Doris, Harold and Alice, Norman Nordhagen and Ruth Kushner; nephews Harley Berg and Jack Nordhagen; niece Sharon Saunders; as well as her best friend Frances Carrell.
The family would like to thank all those who provided care to Mildred this past year. Particularly the caring staff at Pearson Place, Home Support worker Shelby Parker, Community Health, Beaverlodge Hospital staff and Dr. Crowe.
As requested by Mildred, there will not be a Funeral Service, only a small Service with her family.
Memorial donations can be made to Beaverlodge Hospital Foundation (PO Box 480 Beaverlodge, AB, T0H 3C0), Pearson Place (10409 99 St. Hythe, AB, T0H 2C0) or a charity of your choice.

So many wonderful memories as a kid of hanging out at the Nordhagen farm and in town. Mildred was always painting, baking, cooking for her family. I was lucky enough to have enjoyed her amazing lasagna, fresh buns, etc. She was such a lovely lady and I am so thankful to have known her. My deepest condolences go out to the whole family. She will be missed greatly. ❤️

Sending a hug to Mildred's family. I have fond memories of her and what a kind person she was. Peddling my bike past the farm and yelling hello to her as she worked in the yard. Hold your memories close to your heart.❤️

As someone who knew this beautiful soul my entire life I would like to offer my sincere condolences. I loved the time I got to spend in her home as a young person. There was always lots of action, creativity and adventure. I treasure my painting I received as a wedding gift and clearly remember the artistic work that went into my styrofoam cake. My memories are so warm and wonderful of this beautiful woman ❤️. I thank you for sharing her with our family, especially with my mom and I. Love Gena Jones.
