Obituary For Milton Metz
Milton James Metz, resident of Stone Brook Care Home in Grimshaw, AB, formerly of Wanham, AB, passed away on Wednesday, November 11, 2020, at the Stone Brook Care Home, at the age of 94 years.
Milton was born in Hardisty, AB, on January 5, 1926, to Clairissa and Leonard Metz, and he was raised in the Peace Country. He had a Grade 6 education and went on to become a Sawyer for his dad. Milton joined the army on November 19, 1944, until he was discharged in 1946. He did a few odd jobs, until he went back into Sawyer work until he retired at 72.
In his younger years he enjoyed playing baseball. Later on, he liked to hunt, do bead and leather work, and run steam engines when he could. He was generous to a fault.
Milton will be sadly missed by his sister Alice Cundliffe; five children, two step-sons, ten grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents Clairissa and Leonard Metz; one son; two wives; one sister and one brother.
A Viewing will be held on Tuesday, November 17, 2020, at 1:00pm at Coco Hall in Wanham, AB. A Funeral Service to take place at Coco Hall at 2:00pm, with burial to take place at the Wanham Cemetery on Highway 49, just off the road at Wanham.
Memorial donations can be made to the Grande Prairie Royal Canadian Legion (9912 101 Ave., Grande Prairie, AB, T8V 0X8).
