Obituary For Moira Viau
Moira Viau, resident of Grande Prairie, AB, formerly of Aberdeen, Scotland, passed away on March 19, 2025, at the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital at the age of 81 years.
Moira was born on November 6, 1941, in Aberdeen, Scotland, and lived there until she joined the Women’s Royal Army Corps at 18 years old. She was posted to Germany, where she met the love of her life, Moe, to whom she was married for 61 years.
Moira was known for her engaging conversation and beautiful smile that drew people to her. She took each day as it came and believed in thoughtfulness as well as being true to herself. She was forthright, intuitive, and held strong to her sense of justice. Moira enjoyed making time for everyone she met. She loved her work as a healthcare aide and enjoyed spending time with individuals from all walks of life.
Moira was an avid gardener; she enjoyed music as well as singing. She made homemade cards, loved curling, playing cards, and traveling.
She will be sadly missed by her husband, Maurice [Moe] Viau; daughter, Debbie (Rick) Taillefer; grandchildren, Jessica Milling, Amanda (Aaron) Bruce; great-grandchildren, Maya, Elora, Hayden, Keira, Ember, and Charles; brother, Albert McDonald (Lorraine); sister, Isabel Gerrie (George); nieces, Elaine (Nick) Henderson, Jill (Checha) Chibeksecunda, Lynsey Ruach (Craig), and Mariel McWilliam; great-nephews, Jack, Joshua, and Riley; and great-nieces, Rebecca and Emma, all whom she loved dearly.
Moira’s Memorial Service will be held on Friday, March 28, 2025, at 3 pm at Oliver’s Funeral Home (10005 107 Ave Grande Prairie, AB). She will be interred at the National Military Cemetery in Beechwood, ON (280 Beechwood Ave Ottawa, ON) at a later date.
