Obituary For Mollie Hodges

Mollie Juliette Hodges, resident of Beaverlodge, passed away at the Beaverlodge Hospital on Saturday, June 4, 2016, at the age of 87 years.

Mollie was born January 31, 1929 in Catford, London, England to Percy Harriss and Mabel Harriss (Lumley). Mollie attended St. Michael’s Primary School in Dover Kent and then attended the Sandhurst Road Boarding School. She graduated from the London School of Nursing and Midwifery in 1951.

On May 8, 1954, Mollie immigrated to Canada with a fellow classmate to practice nursing. Soon after her arrival to Canada, Mollie met the “love of her life”, Edwin James Hodges, and they were married June 3, 1955. Mollie and Jim were blessed with two sons, Roy and Leonard, and they lived their life on their family farm at Albright. Mollie worked at the Beaverlodge Municipal Hospital, Hythe Municipal Hospital and for the VON. She retired at the age of 55 and continued to volunteer in her community until her body failed.

Mollie is survived by her loving son Roy (Jean); her grandchildren: Jeremy (Megan), Scott (Jessie) and Sarah (Olin); and her three great-grandchildren: Blakely, Wyatt and Keatyn.

Mollie was predeceased by her loving husband Jim and her son Leonard.

We believe, through her faith, Mollie no longer suffers and has found her family and friends who have gone before her.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, June 11, 2016, at 11:00am, at the Beaverlodge United Church (922 4 Ave.).

Interment to follow at the Riverview Cemetery.

Donations may be made in memory of Mollie to West County Palliative Care (C/O Grande Prairie Regional Hospital Foundation (10409-98 St., Grande Prairie, AB, T8V 2E8).

Condolences

My condolences to you. Your mother was such a kind lady and I will always remember our last visit. Your parents made a special arrangement to meet with me for a coffee at the GP Inn when they found out I was in town. This was several years after Bill's and my divorce. I was so happy that they thought enough of me to do that. It was truly a wonderful thing for me and I'll never forget their kindness. Margaret
