Obituary For Murray Sinclair Patrick L'Hirondelle
Murray L’Hirondelle, resident of Little Smokey, AB, formerly of Sturgeon Heights, AB, passed away on Thursday, August 5, 2021, at the Fox Creek Healthcare Centre at the age of 59 years.
Murray was born in Grande Prairie, AB, on October 3, 1961, and raised in Sturgeon Heights. He was a Cat Operator for most of his life, working in various fields from road construction, oilfield, and fighting wildfires.
Murray loved the simplicities of life. He fiercely loved his family and those of his closest friends that he considered family.
Murray had many hobbies such as trapping, hunting and fishing. He was a history enthusiast and a musician. He loved family road trips and trying to improve his culinary skills. Murray was a jack-of-all-trades.
The best memories of his young life were trapping with his dad and skinning rabbits with his mom. When he became a husband and father he used the values instilled in him to ensure that the quality of family life was equal parts laughter and fun, with an underlying lesson for tradition.
"Stay together, help each other to help yourselves. If it's not working, you're not doing enough." - Murray L'Hirondelle.
Murray will be sadly missed by his wife Melinda L’Hirondelle; children: Buddy L’Hirondelle (Christine Capening Salazar), Miranda (Kelly) Markle, Angela L’Hirondelle (Glen Bradley), and Shane L’Hirondelle; nephew Chase Kiyawasew; as well as grandchildren: Wyatt Markle, Molly Veasey, Colton Markle, Peter Stoney, and Elizabeth L’Hirondelle.
Murray was predeceased by his parents Virginia and Modeste L’Hirondelle; brother in-law James Badger; as well as nephew Curtis Kiyawasew.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, August 13, 2021, at 1:00pm, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Sturgeon Lake Cree Nation.

Me and my sister were childhood friends of Murray. His Dad and ours were close friends and often went hunting together. Murray just lived up the road from our farm and McArthur's, and spent a lot of time at both places playing with us and Terry McArthur. I offer his family my sincere sympathy. I will always think of Murray with fondness in my heart and a smile on my face.

I have many memories of Murray, growing up with him and the Badgers in our little community of Sturgeon Heights. It was winter and a bunch of us skated on the creek onto the lake,on our way back Murray and myself were racing.I hit a frozen stick wiped out, Murray kept going n I could hear him laughing as he went around the bend.Murray, Gerald n Darcy needed a place to jam,our porch became their place to practice, awesome music, laughs.Spending time with Murray and his family over the years, having our kids grow up together having so many great precious memories.I am blessed to be a friend of Murray. He will be deeply missed.
