Obituary For Myrtle Irene LaCroix

Myrtle LaCroix, resident of Grande Prairie, AB, formerly of DeBolt, AB, passed away on Tuesday, June 20, 2023, at Mackenzie Place, at the age of 88 years.

Myrtle was born on August 31, 1934, at the home of Edna Stevenson, Community Nurse, in DeBolt. She grew up on a small farm north of DeBolt and attended Mountain Springs School. She married Bud Lacroix in July of 1951. Their daughter Beverly Ann was born in 1951, and they adopted Anthony LaCroix in 1972.

Myrtle loved working with children. She enjoyed working at the Peace School of Hope where she helped with special needs children. She was a foster parent for many years and had a babysitting service in her home as well.

Myrtle was a character and had whit second to none. She loved dancing, sewing, crafts, reading and travel. She loved to socialize and had great times with all her friends and family. She was known to chase some of her nephews around the yard with a switch and loved to watch them play ball.

Myrtle served at the Salvation Army for many years in various capacities. She enjoyed those years very much.

As a family we loved our mom, grandmother, and aunt beyond words. She will leave a huge gap in our hearts and lives forever. "To every end there is a new beginning!" We will look forward to our reunion in Heaven Mom!

She will be sadly missed by her children Beverly (Doug) Gascon (nee LaCroix) and Tony LaCroix; grandchild Terri Gascon; great-grandchild Sienna Gascon; as well as many nieces and nephews that she adored.

Myrtle was predeceased by her husband Calvin “Bud” LaCroix; grandsons Rodi Gascon and Darrin Gascon; brother Roy Scott; as well as sister in-law Elsie Scott.

Special recognition to Roland and Terry LaCroix and Darlene Black as her caregivers in her later years. She loved you so much! Also, a special mention to Cecile LaCroix, her sister in-law, friend, and mentor.

Memorial donations may be made to Make-A-Wish Canada (4211 Yonge St., Suite 520, Toronto, ON, M2P 2A9), or online https://makeawish.ca/donate/

Myrtle had quite the sense of humour, and she pulled it off half the time with a straight face. She'd smile after, or usually a laugh. I remember how much she loved being part of the ladies group at Salvation Army. What a precious person! See you on the other side Myrtle! Love, Rachel Nysted.
