It is with sadness that the family of Norman David Schulz, a resident of Grande Prairie, AB, formerly of Crooked Creek, AB, announce his passing on Saturday, April 24, 2021, at Prairie Lake Seniors Community at the age of 60 years.

Norman was the first child born to Erich and Lillian Schulz on October 1, 1960, in Calgary, AB. The family moved to Crooked Creek in 1967, to realize their dream of homesteading and living on the farm. He took his turn working with the family farm and dairy with his parents and siblings learning how to operate the farm equipment and machinery and was not deterred after an accident when he was rear-ended by a semi while moving machinery.

Norman completed his schooling in Ridgevalley and spent the majority of his life in Crooked Creek. He married Bonnie in 1986, and they welcomed three children into their lives Raelynn, on April 25, 1988, Riley on April 28, 1990, and Braedon, on November 19, 1992.

It pleased Norman to set up a home on his own parcel of land adjacent to his parents, offering the same opportunities he had as a child. Although, his marriage ended a friendship remained.

Norman was quiet, “laid back” and would often sit and observe the world around him. He was proud of his German heritage and was stubborn. He enjoyed helping others.

Norman drove the delivery truck at P & G Kitchens and volunteered with the Debolt Fire Department for many years. He enjoyed camping, playing card games, watching movies, listening to music, attending and participating in Church.

Norman was eventually diagnosed at the age 54 with dementia which had a devastating effect on him and his family. After a long battle, he passed peacefully in his sleep.

Norman will be sadly missed by his children Raelynn (Lane) Haughian, Riley (Kaitlin) Schulz, and Braedon Schulz; grandchildren Addison Schulz, Luka and Kenzie Haughian; His siblings Natalie (Ron) Silljer, Neal (Judy) Schulz, and Naomi (Mark) Scott, along with other family members and friends.

He was predeceased by his parents Erich and Lillian Schulz and his sister Nancy Evans.

As the song was written, “Go rest high on that mountain, Son your work on earth is done, Go to heaven a-shoutin', Love for the Father and the Son”.

The family would like to pass along their appreciation to the staff at Prairie Lake for their care of Norman.

A private family Graveside Service will be held on Monday, May 3, 2021, at Cornwall Cemetery.
