Obituary For Oliver Albert Olson
Oliver Olson, resident of Beaverlodge, AB, formerly of Pouce Coupe, BC, passed away on Sunday, November 19, 2023, at the age of 83 years, at the Grande Prairie Care Center.
Oliver was born January 2, 1940, in Beaverlodge, AB, to John and Gilma Olson. He was raised on the family farm just outside Valhalla Centre. He went to a one-room school called Royal Banner.
Oliver had many different fields of work throughout his life, such as: logging, house construction, rodeo riding, a correctional officer, and truck driving. In his later years, he worked as a Senior Officer in a regional security company until his retirement.
Oliver loved oil painting, sketching art, woodworking, hunting, and was very adept at mechanical work.
Oliver always had a positive attitude and mindset and was very stubborn. He had some favorite sayings: “A poor excuse is better than none”, “The world doesn’t owe you anything, if you want something you’d better work for it, ‘cause nothing is free in life”, “If you start something, you’d damn well better finish it”.
Oliver will be missed by his son Daniel Shawn (Mandy Keip) Olson; grandchildren Micah and Darius Olson; brothers: Harley (Cheryl) Olson, Darryl (Doreen) Olson, and Donald (Shirley) Olson; as well as many more friends that became family to him through the years.
Oliver was predeceased by his wife Alice Olson.
A Viewing will be held on Sunday, November 26, 2023, at 2:00pm, at Oliver’s Funeral Home in Grande Prairie (10005 107 Ave.).
