Obituary For Patricia Read

Pat Read, resident of Grande Prairie, formerly of Winnipeg, MB, passed away on Monday, January 8, 2018 at Points West Hospice at the age of 62 years.

Pat was born July 14, 1955 to Sidney and Annie Read in Winnipeg. She was raised both abroad in Germany and at home in Manitoba. With her dad being in the Army, they moved around a lot while growing up. Pat worked for many years as a waitress, ranch hand, truck driver, and more recently as a school bus driver for Peace Wapiti School Division No.76.

Pat was always smiling and encouraging, made friends wherever she went and was an animal magnet. She was very positive, despite many difficulties in life. She enjoyed pottery, crafting, painting and writing poetry.

Pat will be sadly missed by her daughter Barb Eyre of Grande Prairie; granddaughter Katie Eyre-Saunders of Altona, MB; sister Carolyn (Kirk) Bailey of Apalachin, NY and their children Blake (Elizabeth) Bailey and Sarah (David) Konitz; brother Peter Read (Janis Gillam) of Winnipeg, MB and their children Jennifer (Mike) Walsh of Manitoba and Christopher Read (Michelle LeGrand) of BC; “sister by choice” and best friend Sydney (James) Fletcher and their children Linnea, Clinton, Hannah, Emma and Stephen of Grande Prairie.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at 11:30am at Westpointe Community Church (in basement) (11305 Pinnacle Blvd.) in Grande Prairie.

Donations may be made in memory of Pat Read to Points West Hospice (c/o Grande Prairie Hospice Palliative Care Society Box 21215, Grande Prairie, AB T8V 6W7).

Like to send my deepest sympathy to you all! I know you all know this that she was a wonderful lady who had a huge heart ! Pat was a one of kind , she was my oldest son bus driver and he was scared to ride at first , she made him feel safe and comfortable another time he was hurt by another student and had to miss some school and before returning back she came to our house to reassure him everything with be ok and she will make sure that student wonâ??t sit by him and she will watch him on the long bus ride . Always love her phone calls and chats to see if we are all doing ok ! When we moved back to nfld we kept in touch for awhile and my sister would always pass along messages to pat from us to cause they drove bus together and always kept me updated on pat health . Sad to know that our favourite bus driver is gone but she will never be forgotten in our hearts . Fly high with the angels pat and Nathaniel sends you one of his famous hugs he always gave you . Miss you my dear sweet friend !! Lots of love from wanda
