Obituary For Patrick Logan Binns

Patrick Logan Binns of Calgary, AB passed away suddenly and tragically on Thursday, January 3, 2019, at the age of 38 years.

Pat was born to Don and Mary Clare Binns on September 22, 1980 and was a relaxed baby from the start. His Mom stated many times that he rarely cried, and, by the age of four, was sneaking out of bed to watch the news with his parents. This friendly, laid back nature continued as he grew up in Grande Prairie, making friends and leaving a lasting impact on all of those who knew him.

Taller than most, and with a large mop of curly hair, he was already a dynamic presence - but when he began a band after high school with some close friends, a natural progression after a lifelong love of music, the circle of those impacted by this gentle giant only increased.

Through his journeys from Edmonton, to Vancouver, to Calgary, fond friendships and hilarious stories seemed to follow. All of those who were fortunate enough to know him, absolutely loved him. Many will fondly remember his giggle of a laugh, his quick humour, his kindness, and how things were just a little bit better with Pat Binns there. He had a magnetic energy that just made you happy to be around him, and look forward to the next time you would meet again.

After a beautiful life of love and adventure, the world was just a little too much for this wonderful soul. This tragedy has shocked everyone who knew Pat. A giant, 6’4” hole is left in our hearts. We will never quite be the same.

Pat was a loving husband and best friend to his wife, Fiona de Monye. He is survived by his father Don Binns; brothers Morgan Binns (Leah Binns) and Dan Binns (Allison McDougall); sisters Martie Binns (Steve Morris) and Andrea Scherer-White (Ross White); aunt Patricia McLean; as well as nieces, nephews and many, many friends.

Pat was predeceased by his mother, Mary Clare Binns.

A Service celebrating and honouring his life and spirit will be held on Saturday, January 19, 2019 at 4:00pm, at Clarkson Hall at Evergreen Park in Grande Prairie, AB.

Interment will be held for Mary-Clare on Saturday, October 5, 2024, at 11:00 AM at the Valhalla Cemetery.

Condolences

Dear Pat, I remember you...kissing on the stairs, your goofy tooth and pulling on your hair, long coffee breaks and the cigarette that didn't burn me. You're the tallest tree I'll ever know, the coolest breeze that passed me by. Ours was brief and short in time but in my memory sublime. I will forever keep you close to me..in my heart and in my mind.
