Even though this branch of the Hunt's was so far away (in Georgia), our precious Uncle Paul made an effort to connect with us. He would call my sister, Trina, just to laugh at her southern drawl, and nearly kept my husband, daughter Deanna, and me hostage once when I was pregnant with my second child and came to say goodbye to Grandma. He just didn't want us to leave. Several years ago, when Don and I took all the kids "home" to Alberta, Uncle Paul spent hours walking the woods with us and recounting stories. The boys sat enraptured when he talked about hunting or auto mechanics. He took us to a stampede, gave the boys a black Stetson to share, and gave Deanna money to buy a girls' cowboy hat. When she graduated high school, she wore that hat in a photo shoot in honor of her Great Uncle Paul. A few years after that, she returned to Alberta alone to attend Cousin Tasha Schultz's wedding and made her way to High Prairie, my mother's hometown. Uncle Paul and Cynthia drove down from Wanham to spend the day with her in High Prairie, a difficult physical challenge for him. We'll always remember his laugh, that twinkle Lila spoke of, and his effort to connect with our family, even though we were so far away. Fritz, Lorelei, and Ducky, as well as your children and grandchildren, we love you very much. And we love, cherish, and will greatly miss our Uncle Paul! He will live on in precious memories.

We are saddened to learn of Uncle Paul's passing. We are so sorry for your loss. We will miss his phone calls where we would chat about the garden or canning. I was always tickled when he would share a no nonsense tidbit of wisdom. I'll remember him with his great sense of humor and take no prisoner wit. Just thinking about it, I can see the twinkle in his eye when he had the better of you in a joke. One of the Hunt family traits is resiliency. I hope this trait will shoulder you as you mourn. Love, Carlene & Randy Lake

My dear, sweet uncle Paul. He always had a big beautiful smile on his face and wasn't shy about telling a funny (inappropriate) joke. He raised some of the best human beings I know. He was a hard worker and a vivid story teller. I could listen to him talk all day long. Love and light to the family. Love you so much and will miss you terribly. Give Grama and all the relatives we've lost, a hug.
