Obituary For Paula Diana Mills Critch

Paula Diana Critch, resident of Wembley, AB, formerly of Shoal Harbour, NL, passed away unexpectedly in Edmonton, AB, on Wednesday, April 28, 2021, at the age of 72 years.

Paula was born on February 12, 1949, and raised in Newfoundland but moved to Ontario a couple years after graduation. She married Ford Critch in 1969, in Shoal Harbour and gave birth to their daughter Natasha, in Toronto, ON, in 1972. Together they all moved back to Shoal Harbour to raise their daughter in 1973. In 2011, Paula and Ford moved to Wembley to be closer to their daughter, son-in-law, and two granddaughters.

Paula enjoyed camping, reading, sewing, and, most of all, spending time with her loved ones. She loved being around her family and friends. Her daughter and granddaughters were her pride and joy. Paula’s words of wisdom, strength, and love were felt by all those around her. She will always be in our hearts and will be dearly missed.

She will be dearly missed by her husband Ford Critch, son-in-law Rex Barfett, granddaughters Taylor and Amber Barfett, as well as a large circle of friends and family both near and far.

Paula was predeceased by her parents George and Annie Belle Mills, her older sister Elaine Trenholm, and her daughter Natasha Barfett.

A Viewing will be held on Tuesday, May 4, 2021, from 4:00pm–7:00pm at at Oliver’s Funeral Home (10005 107 Ave., Grande Prairie, AB, T8V 1L8) for anyone who would like to say their goodbyes. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, only a small amount of people will be able to attend at a time. Please contact the family to book a half hour increment to say your goodbyes. The family would appreciate patience as the family is also grieving at this time but would like to allow everyone else their own time to grieve as well.

A private invite only Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, May 5, 2021, at 3:00pm, at Oliver’s Funeral Home. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, only a small number of close family and friends will be able to attend. The family appreciates your understanding and cooperation.

A livestream will be available to view five minutes before the start of the service on Paula’s obituary page.
