Peter Shawn Dahl, resident of Grande Prairie, passed away on Saturday, February 8, 2020, at the age of 48 years.

Peter was born January 19, 1972, to Jan and Jim Dahl, in Trail, BC where he also spent most of his youth. As a young man, Peter was into vintage cars, driving fast, and having a good time. He was also popular with the ladies and a good friend to those who knew him.

Peter graduated from high school in 1991. Soon after, he moved out and began moving, but never settling in one place for too long until he moved to Grande Prairie. In 2002, he met Jodi Anne Sowan while both were working at The Great Northern Casino. Love soon followed, along with a son and a daughter: Christian and Anna-eve. Jodi and Peter lived the vows they never made for 18 years.

Fun. Kind. Big-hearted. Those were the three descriptors most used to describe Peter, he was a reserved man, quiet in his convictions, and undaunted by his responsibilities. He was proud of his children and spoke of them often to friends and co-workers.

He was hard-working, strong, loving and gentle. He loved his family and was devoted to being a good provider to his wife and children. He believed that if you work hard, treat people right, and have a little luck, you can have a good life, a belief he wanted to pass on to his children.

Peter’s death was sudden, but his life was not faint. His memory will always be with us, and his legacy will continue through his children, Christian and Anna-eve.

A good father, husband, son, brother, and friend: that’s what he was, what we called him, and how we will always remember him.

A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2020, at 2:00pm, at Oliver’s Funeral Home in Grande Prairie (10005 107 Ave.).
