Obituary For Philip Aucoin
Philip Brian Aucoin, resident of La Glace, AB, formerly of Brighton, ON, passed away on Sunday, January 10, 2016 at Points West Hospice, in Grande Prairie, at the age of 54 years.
Phil was born in Yarmouth, NS, but traveled from base to base with his military family. Phil finally settled in Trenton, ON where he met his wife of 25 years. For over 20 years, Phil worked as a curbside recycling driver, and then moved his family to Grande Prairie, AB to work in the Oil and Gas industry.
Phil always said he never made a good first impression, but always made a lasting one.
Although Phil loved his job, his real passion was hockey and football which he instilled in all 4 of our boys. Phil was known for his huge booming laugh, and a sense of humor. When Phil walked into a room, everyone knew he was there.
Phil coached all his boys in hockey and baseball. At one point, he had his own cheerleading squad who would show up at every game to cheer him on, and not his team.
Phil loved his family football and backyard hockey games, bonfires with friends and family (dunk tank always included), anything that involved people. From pig roasts, winter horse shoes and baking. Yes, baking. No one could beat Phil’s homemade bread and tarts.
He will be sadly missed by his wife Lisa (Jones) Aucoin, sons: David Aucoin, Steven Jones, Adam Garner, and Don Garner; nieces: Michelle Schul (Duffley) of Edmonton and Samantha Jones Potts of Trenton; nephew Michael Potts of Trenton; grandchildren: Connor Brian,
Adalyn Lisa and Paisley Ann; his father Clarance Aucoin, sister Linda (Aucoin) Duffley of Nova Scotia; multiple sisters and brothers in-law from all over the country, as well as many more.
Phil was predeceased by his mother Germaine Aucoin, and two children: Rebecca and Steven Paul Aucoin.
The Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, January 17, 2016 at 3:00pm at the Royal Canadian Legion #54 in Grande Prairie (9912 101 Ave).
Memorial donations may be made to Brighton Minor Hockey Association (King Edward Park, Brighten, ON, K0K 1H0) for all kids who want to play but can’t afford to. It’s all about playing the game.

At times like this it is difficult to know what to say. Instead I reflect on the great summer days and evenings on the river and the park. The pig roasts and the organized gooffiness of the various goings on. One thing consistent thing was you always knew with certainty when Phil was in the park. His cannonading voice was always entertaining. More meaningful was his easy going way and wall to wall smile. Although you are far away, every time I go down to John&Jackie's memories of you all come to mind. I hope Phil's final days were not too difficult for him or to you and the family. I guess the only thing to do is to celebrate with gratitude the priviledge of sharing one's lives together and keep those precious moments close to our hearts always. Only my best thoughts to you and yours. Respectfully and sincerely, Bob.

So very sorry for your loss. Phil worked for our contractor in Trenton for years - I work at the Board office that contracts out the collection. Whenever Phil came into our office he brought a smile to all our faces - he was so loud and so cheerful and funny, and we always felt our days get better when Phil stopped in. He will be remembered fondly.

My deepest Sympathies to you Lisa, and the whole family. I loved my visits to Margaree to visit you folks with Annette. I love the comment about how his presence was known when he laughed. He did have a big laugh, and a big heart. I do hope he didn't suffer long in his sickness battle. And keep all the good memories near your hearts. They will keep you warm and make you smile when the cold and sadness comes around when you miss him the most If you want to contact me, I am on facebook under Neil Poirier, and email is jnp16@hotmail.com God Bless Philip and God Bless you all Neil

This world is a bit sadder without Phil in it. He lit up a room with his laugh his smile and his love of people. I'm glad to have known him even if it was for a short time. Lisa will be lost. And in pain but please know that you are always part of the island park gang. We will have the fire going whenever you need a place to sit and chat.
