Obituary For Ralph Selke
“It is not the length of life, but the depth of life”
It is with sadness, our family announces the passing of a husband, a father, a brother, and an uncle, on Saturday, October 31. 2015.
Ralph was born on February 28, 1944 in Grande Prairie, AB. He grew up just outside Grande Prairie in a small community called Sturgeon Heights on their farm. Along with his parents and two other brothers, they ran the local service station. He enjoyed commercial fishing with his dad and brothers along with building their own boats.
During his lifetime, Ralph worked at Young’s Point Provincial Park as a maintenance supervisor as well as working in the bush and operating heavy machinery. The last 25 years he spent with the love of his life, Mildred, running their small engine business.
He enjoyed camping with his family and friends along with hunting and fishing with his boys. Ralph was married to Joyce Mildred Judd on July 16, 1971. The marriage brought forward two sons: Steven Ralph Selke and Curtis Max Selke.
Ralph will be remembered and greatly missed by his wife Mildred, sons Steven and Curtis, brother Otto, sisters in-law Gladys Coté and Jean Selke, nieces: Lisa Burton, Barb Gray, Mary Goodswimmer and Charlene Payou; nephew Barry Goodswimmer, mother in-law Lillian, many brothers in-law, sisters in-law, cousins, in-laws, and countless nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his mother Theresa, father Max, and bother Ernie Selke.
The Viewing will take place Friday, November 6, 2015 from 7:00-9:00pm at Oliver’s Funeral Home in Grande Prairie (10005 107 Ave).
The Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday, November 7, 2015 at 1:00pm at the Debolt Centennial Hall.
