Obituary For Randy Lee Casper

Randy’s passing on January 28th, 2025, at the age of 66 has forever changed our world.

Randy was born May 8, 1958, in Taber, Alberta. The family moved to Fairview, Alberta in 1964, followed by a transition to Grande Prairie when Randy began school and finally settled in the Grovedale, where he continued his education. However, he soon discovered school was not his thing and left at the age of 16.

After working at the local sawmill, he had saved enough to purchase his first vehicle and moved back to Grande Prairie. He worked at the Canfor Plywood Plant until he acquired his first-class driving license, then he began trucking, hauling logs and gravel. His last load that he hauled was a load of logs delivered to the Canfor yard.

Randy has been described as a log haul legend and the kind of man that the world needs more of. Randy was dedicated and dependable to his workday, and devoted and loyal to his family.

He worked hard and played hard. To some he was a strong silent force always willing to help out if needed. He didn’t invite conflict but would stand for what he believed in. He was the jack of all trades when it came to wearing different hats for many people. If you wanted the truth, you just had to ask.

As a younger man, he played broom ball, hockey and on a variety of competitive slow pitch teams, making many lifelong friends. He loved the Bluejays’ and the Oiler’s, never missing an opportunity to discuss the teams’ performances and potential. But really any sport on TV would keep him in his chair on a day off, of course. He thoroughly enjoyed fishing, boating, family camping trips and most recently walking the dogs.

Randy will be fondly remembered by his wife Jerri whom he married in 1997, Sons: Konner born in 1994 and Chandler born in 1996. Extended family and numerous friends and colleagues.

He was predeceased by his father: Charles, mother: Katherine, infant brother Edward. Father-in-law Robert Cramer, mother-in-law Jean, brothers-in-law Don Line and Charlie Cramer and sister-in-law Janice Cramer.

A Gathering will be held at The People’s Church (11850 108 St Grande Prairie) on Monday, February 10, 2025, at 11:00 am. Luncheon to follow.

The family is encouraging all those who knew Randy to please share their personal memories or stories to caspers@telus.net so they can embrace in them together.
