Obituary For Raymond Joseph Braumberger
Raymond Joseph Braumberger, longtime resident of Sexsmith, AB, was currently a resident of Grande Prairie, AB, passed away at the QEII Hospital on Saturday, November 21, 2020, at the age of 78 years.
Ray was born July 16, 1942, in Sexsmith, AB, and was raised in Bad Heart, AB, until he was 2 years old. His parents then bought a farm north of Sexsmith.
He married Marion Eggers on December 29, 1964. They would have been married 56 years this December. In 1978, Ray and Marion purchased the family farm. They raised registered polled Hereford and commercial cattle. Ray also worked for Park Brothers as a construction foreman before he became an oilfield consultant.
Ray had a lifelong love of animals. He always had a partner riding shotgun; Taff, Jake, a new Taff, and Bear. Ray had nine lives like a cat, risking his own life to save his puppy Bear, who had fallen through the ice on the dugout.
He was well respected, and well liked throughout his career as an oilfield consultant. His intelligence, work ethic and easy smile made Ray popular when he showed up at any worksite. Ray not only worked in oil and gas, but unique projects around the region, including the Nitehawk Ski Hill.
Ray and Marion moved to Grande Prairie in November 2018.
He will be sadly missed by his wife Marion Braumberger; son Darcy; daughter Rhonda (Grant) Berg; grandson Jared Berg; granddaughter Regan Berg; grandson Brandon (Ginger) Rode; and great-grandchildren Walker and Eva; siblings: Rose (Bill) Badger, Larry Braumberger, Dale Braumberger, Shirley Milinkovic, Ron (Anna Belle) Braumberger; sisters in-law: Louise Braumberger, Coreen Mosure, and Candace Eggers.
Ray was predeceased by his parents Bruno and Alice Braumberger; brothers: Ernie, Danny (Angie), Gary and Dennis Braumberger; sister in-law Doreen (George) Parker; brother in-law Melvin Eggers; and brother in-law Chuck Milinkovic.
At Ray’s request, a Celebration of Life with family will be held at a later date.
Memorial donations may be made to Bandaged Paws (9920 91 Ave., Grande Prairie, AB, T8V 0G3).
