Obituary For Richard William Price
The peaceful passing of Richard “Dick” William Price occurred at the Grande Prairie Care Centre on Wednesday, October 23, 2019. Richard “Dick” was 81 years old.
Richard “Dick” was born to William and Thelma Price on October 12, 1938 in Woodstock, New Brunswick.
In 1959, he became the Lightweight Boxing Champion of New Brunswick. The same year, he joined the Canadian Airforce where he worked for over 23 years. In 1982, after retiring from the Airforce, he went to work at AGT as an electronic technician. He opened Expert Mobile in 1993 and retired in 2003. He married the love of his life, Gloria, in 1960 and they had three children: Alan, Debbie, and Kelly.
The Airforce took them to Vancouver Island where he loved the lifestyle of hiking, fishing and being in Search and Rescue. He was involved in several rescue missions, as well as blazing trails into San Joseph Bay and Cape Scott, just to name a few. In 1973, they were transferred to Beaverlodge where they remained until his passing.
Richard “Dick” and Gloria spent many retirement years travelling to Arizona where they met many people who became their friends. Richard “Dick” was a kind, generous man who loved to joke and tease and many affectionately knew him as “Tricky Dicky”.
He opened his home to anyone in need. Christmas was one of his favourite holidays and he spent many weeks getting his place ready for Christmas Eve where family and friends would gather for a sleigh ride, sing along, and fireworks, followed by yummy meat pies “tourtiers”.
Gardening was one of his passions and together with Gloria they started over 1500 flower and vegetable seedlings which would given to anyone that came to the acreage for a visit.
He will be sadly missed by his wife of 59 years, Gloria; three children: Alan (LoriLei), Debbie (Rod), and Kelly (Barry); grandkids: Amie (Kyle), Jessica (Jon), Jennifer (Sid), Jason (Natasha), Cory (Ashleigh), Brett (Jaeden), Kenneth (Bryce), Alexandra (Jase), Tristen, Jared, Richard, and Rebecca; and great-grandkids: Owen, Jordan, Tavish, Brooklyn, Callen, Easton, Myah, and Rowan.
Richard “Dick” was predeceased by his parents William and Thelma Price, father and mother in-law Elder and Phyllis Whitlock, as well as siblings Lawrence, Avis, and Audrey.
Special thanks to the Grande Prairie Care Centre for their wonderful care.
A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, October 29, 2019 at 11:00am, at Forbes Presbyterian Church in Grande Prairie (9635 76 Ave.).
Memorial donations may be made to Alzheimer Society of Alberta and NWT (102, 9823 116 Ave., Grande Prairie, AB, T8V 4B4).

Hotte Joanne and Arden
We were deeply saddened to hear of Dick's passing and extend our deepest and sincere sympathy to Gloria and the entire family. Dick was the type of neighbor that everyone wishes for! He was kind, caring, friendly, passionate about his yard, generous, waved whenever you passed by if he was in their yard, and a jokester. We were sad when they had to recently move to Grande Prairie but knew it was for the best due to his health. We really missed seeing him puttering in his yard, "always doing something!" We were happy he got to come out to their former home just a short month ago. I was glad to have had the chance to see him and Gloria in a store in GP this past Spring and he still had that trademark twinkle in his eyes which we will always hold dear to our hearts. Rest in Peace dear Dick.Heaven gained a great one.

Dick and I first met in 1969 while serving at Canadian Forces Station Holberg and although we both left there in 1973 our friendship has never ended. Dick was a joker with a great sense of humor. He was a dedicated to his family. he was dependable he could always be trusted, as his word was his bond. I will always have happy memories of the times we spent together. My family and I wish to send our doopest sympathy and condolences to Gloria and his children and we know he will be sadly missed by all his family and his many friends.
