Obituary For Robert "Bob" Allen Whittaker
We are heartbroken to announce the sudden passing of Robert “Bob” Whittaker on Tuesday, June 7, 2022, in Grande Prairie, AB. He was just 74 years young.
Bob was born in July of 1947, and raised in Victoria, BC, and moved to Calgary, AB, and then to Grande Prairie in 1972. He then began his career with the Grande Prairie Fire Dept which he was proud to serve for 35 years.
Early in his career, off hours were spent working with Airline companies which provided travel benefit opportunities. Later he helped complete commercial cabinetry projects which he continued with after retirement.
He enjoyed many family camping trips in British Columbia, Alberta, Ontario and the US (Route 66). Camping with grandchildren was always the most fun. His latest venture involved transporting vehicles between dealerships throughout western Canada.
Bob is survived by his wife Yvonne; sons Terry (Wendy), and Shane; grandchildren: Angela, Jocelyn and Nicholas and their mother Sabrina; his siblings: Carole Entrop, Jo-Ellen Graham, Reg Whittaker (Deb), and Derek Whittaker, and their children; aunt and uncle Maurice and Adele Mingay; several cousins; as well as sisters in-law Joan Freed, Nancy (Darren) Haughian, and Sharon (Colin) Peters and their children and families.
He was predeceased by his parents Allen and Joan; sister Diana; grandparents; as well as aunts and uncles.
He will be missed by many. May you Rest in Peace. We love you.

Condolences Yvonne and families. Steve and Karen Boyne sending our heartfelt sympathy to you at this difficult time. "Capt Bob" was our Bravo Platoon. I have many good memories with Capt. of Bravo Platoon. With Kathy and I in the 911 and Fire dispatch, many hours were shared with this dedicated firefighter as he was called to hundreds if not thousands of fire emergencies. Thank you for your service Bob and you can rest knowing you made a difference.
