Obituary For Robert "Bob" James Driedger

Robert James Driedger, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 4, 2023, at the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital, after a long battle with Parkinson's at the age of 83.

Bob was born in Herbert, SK, on February 18, 1940. He moved with his family to the farm near LaGlace, AB, in 1952, at the age of 12. In 1974, on a trip to Honolulu, he met the love of his life, Cheryl Nickolson and they were married six months later. They had two children: Dayton and Shelley. Bob and Cheryl resided on the farm near LaGlace until they moved into Grande Prairie in 2010.

Bob will be remembered for his great love of his family and farming. Also, the enjoyment he found in traveling, and meeting and working with the people in the community.

Bob is lovingly remembered by his wife of 49 years Cheryl; son Dayton (Jackie); daughter Shelley; his three beautiful granddaughters: Bobbi-Lea, Kennedy, and Kalia; along with many other friends and family.

He was predeceased by his father Frank and mother Elsie.

Special thanks to the staff in the Emergency and Unit 12 at the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital for their incredible care in Bob's last few days.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 19, 2023, at 2:00pm, at The Throness Family Farm by LaGlace, AB, (733006 Range Rd. 80). Luncheon to follow.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to LaGlace Bible Fellowship Church, LaGlace Bible Fellowship Church - LaGlace Youth Group (lbftreasurer@gmail.com), or a charity of one’s choice.

Our heartfelt sympathies to Cheryl and the family. Bob was, truly, a gentle spirit and God fearing man, who was such an example on how to live life for God first, and then, for family. He was kind, attentive, and always extending help where he could. What a great mentor he was. May the family find comfort knowing he is resting in heavenly arms, at peace, and smiling lovingly with that twinkle in his eyes that he had for everyone that he held dear. Our prayers are with you. George & Diana Krahn

Our sincere condolences to the Driedger family. Bob always brought a smile to your face, a good Spence of humour. Never forget when he thought me body surfing in Mexico, i have never had that much sand everywhere on and in my body, he just laughed. All the business we did with Bob, he was the most honest and thoughtful customer, we had. Rest in Peace Bob. You will be missed. Forever in our memory and hearts. Erna and Arne
