Obituary For Robert Halahan Asher

Robert Halahan Asher, resident of Nashwaak Village, NB, formerly of Montreal, QC, passed away on Thursday, July 11, 2019, in Grande Prairie, AB, at the age of 66 years.

Robert was born October 28, 1952 in Montreal, QC where he was raised. He moved to Fredericton, NB to pursue a university degree. Robert was a longtime employee of Canadian Tire where he met the love of his life, Cynthia, in June of 1993. He retired early due to health issues in 2012 and made his way to God. He began attending church and was baptized in August of 2016. He may not have understood it all, but he wanted to be a part of it.

Robert loved having coffee with his brother in-law Bobby and watching Bonanza with his buddy and brother in-law Steve. He loved watching the History Channel, playing guitar, taking day trips, camping with his Airstream, and traveling, especially to Grande Prairie to visit his granddaughters.

He made his last trip to Grande Prairie, AB, knowing it would be his last. He was so excited. Within a few short days, after spending time with family, he was able to use his last moments to say goodbye to all his loved ones and pray to God to take him home. He passed away peacefully with his wife by his side.

Robert will be sadly missed by his wife Cindy; children: Corey, Holly, Philip (Christine), Darcy, and Kelly (Ryan); grandchildren: Travis, Wyatt, Mya, Alexandrya, Elias, Annabelle, and Carter; special great-niece Karlee, very special nephew Jared who called Robert his “Chief”; nephew Joshua; brother Jim (Jane); as well as other nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his father John Asher, mother Maureen Asher, and brother John Asher.

Viewings will he held Friday, July 19, 2019 from 7-9:00pm, and Saturday, July 20, 2019, at 12-1:00pm, at Capital Community Church in Fredericton, New Brunswick (71 Downing St.).

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, July 20, 2019, at 2:00pm, at Capital Community Church.

If you would like to send flowers, please send them to the church (71 Downing St., Fredericton, New Brunswick).

I was saddened to read of your loss Cindy, even though he is not suffering, he still was your love and has been your rock and your his. Much time has been needed since he took sick. Don't be afraid to ask for help or show your sadness, and don't be afraid to laugh at a happy memory. People understand and it is part of the grieving process. I hope through the process when you share your memories that it gives you some comfort. I won't lie and say it gets better with time, it just gets tolerable. When your ready contact me, but don't be surprised if i call you first. Thanking of you, sorry we haven't kept in touch, maybe we just needed a push. take care and God Bless You and the Kids. RIP Rob.
