Obituary For Roger Lee

Roger Lee, resident of Valhalla Centre, AB, passed away on Thursday, April 12, 2018, at the age of 86 years.

Roger was born on May 18, 1931, in Valhalla Centre, on the family farm. He started farming at a young age and always enjoyed being surrounded by family, friends and neighbours.

In 1957 he married his wife, Vivian (nee Halvorson), and together they created a wonderful life that included: the births of their three children (Eldon, Mandy and Owen), grain farming, raising Quarter Horses and Black Angus Cattle, competing in cutting horse competitions, travelling, golfing, and curling. Showing horses and cattle was something Roger took pride in and his love of animals was evident to anyone who knew him. Around the farm, Roger could be heard asking if “coffee was on”, and he was always there to help a friend or neighbour in need. In his final years, Roger enjoyed nothing more than being surrounded by family and watching his great-grandchildren grow and play.

Roger will be missed by his wife Vivian; children: Eldon (Marie) Lee, Mandy (Gary) Collins, and Owen Lee; brother Gary (Carol) Lee; grandchildren: Jennifer (Kevin) Weinkauf, Stefanie (Cash) Huillery, Abby (Ryan) Stilwell, Nicole Collins (Frederic Grandmaison), Michael Lee (Shelby Robinson), and Brittany Lee (Dion Dupuis); great-grandchildren: Mexen, Easton, Deklan, Briar, Remek, JT and Parker; along with many other family members and friends.

He was predeceased by his parents: Emma and Palmer Lee; sister Marcine (Andy) Anderson; brothers: Merlin and Cameron (Pat) Lee

The Funeral Service for Roger Lee will be held on Wednesday, April 18, 2018, at 2:00pm, at the Valhalla Lutheran Church.

Following the church service, officiated by Pastor Steven Forbes, there will be a burial at the Valhalla Cemetery, with coffee and refreshments to follow back at the church.

Memorial donations may be made to the Beaverlodge Hospital Foundation (Box 480, Beaverlodge, AB, T0H 0C0).

It was always a special conversation when we had the opportunity to visit with you and Roger, and often, he would share a story or memory of early times or some story he would recall that would include by Dad. Those stories were much appreciated! Roger had a big zest for life that I always admired. We are not able to be at Roger's funeral but are thinking of you during this time. Love from both us.
