Obituary For Roman Antypowich
Roman passed away on Friday, March 11, 2016 at the age of 88 years, at the QEII Hospital in Grande Prairie.
He was born May 13, 1927. Roman was the oldest of five children born to Frank and Annie Antypowich in Ibstone, Saskatchewan. The family moved to Widewater and then to High Prairie, Alberta, where they operated the sawmill that is now Buchanan Lumber. In 1954, he married the love of his life, Arleen Lauder and in 1956, they moved to homestead in Valleyview, where they farmed and resided until their move to Grande Prairie in 2006. During the first 30 years of the 50 year span, he also operated Northwood Contractors Ltd., an oilfield construction company, with his brother Ervin.
He spent his retirement gardening, collecting belt buckles, coins and bolo ties, and enjoying his love of music, along with spending as much time as anyone possibly could with family and their many friends.
Roman will be sadly missed by his wife Arleen, sons: Gervin (Machelle) and Frank (Deborah); daughters: Leona (Colin) and Lois (Ken); as well as grandchildren: Colton, Emma, Brianna (Landon), Rosalyn (Reeve), Tara, Brittany, Corvin, Erin (Tim), Mashayla, Nastascia (Ryan) and Tyler (Jennifer); and great-grandchildren: Sawyer, Payton and Mason. He also leaves to mourn his passing two brothers: Lloyd (Gloria) and Clifford (Joyce); his sister Shirley (Ben), as well as many dear nieces and nephews, friends and extended family.
Roman was predeceased by his parents Frank and Annie, his brother Ervin, and his precious granddaughter Alexis Dixon.
Relatives and friends are invited to his Funeral Service being held on Thursday, March 17, 2016, at 1:00 pm, at the Valleyview Memorial Hall in Valleyview, AB (4808 50 St). Interment (family only) to follow. Everyone is invited to stay for refreshments and fellowship following the service.
If family and friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to the Valleyview Health Centre Foundation (P.O Box 358 Valleyview, AB, T0H 3N0).

I am sorry to hear about Roman's passing Arlene. I can't image the absence that Romans passing produces. He was a truly loving and wise person. I really enjoyed seeing him on the schedule even though his physical problems where often difficult to change he was always so kind and encouraging. We do need more people like Roman in this world who genuinely care more about people then anything else. I know the grief of Romans passing is significant but take comfort that Roman's short periods with my had a impact in my life as I believe his heart for people is something for us all to be striving for. Heaven will celebrate his life well. I apologize for my absence at the funeral but you will be in my thoughts are prays.

To the Antypowich Family Thinking of you all today. We know you will miss Grandpa and Dad keenly. I have such nice memories of your family, even if it was almost 50 years ago! I think of you, Leona from time to time and always when we drive by the old farm place on our trips up North. I feel like I stay a little connected because we do see your Erickson relatives and they keep us a little updated on the happenings in your family. Special hugs to you Arleen Richard and Maxine Kendrew Little
