Ron Loughlin, resident of Grande Prairie, formerly of Red Deer, passed away Thursday, December 14, 2017, at the age of 59 years.

Ron was born on December 23, 1957 in Red Deer. In 2001, his 23 year career in the oilfield brought him to Grande Prairie. He worked all over Alberta, British Columbia and Inuvik.

Ron loved spending time with his kids, coaching and playing sports. This continued on as he grew into a grandfather, always supporting his grandkids in their athletics and interests. Ron was passionate about basketball and a hockey enthusiast.

He will be sadly missed by his wife Beth Elson and his children: Jordan (Candace) Loughlin, Ashley (Dave) McKinnon, and Heather (Jeff) Clark; grandchildren: Cassandra, Cayla, Jackson, Rachael, Justin, Jacey, Emma and Paige; brothers: Dennis (Rosanna), Ted (Terri), Mike, Terry, and Pat (Sashi); sister: Therese (Len) Erickson; brothers in-law: Walt (Lynne) Elson, and Neil (Karen) Elson, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Ron was predeceased by his parents John and Fay Loughlin, brother Robert, and sister Maureen.

A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, December 20, 2017, at 10:00am, at Oliver’s Funeral Home in Grande Prairie (10005 107 Ave).
