Ron Raymond Quinn, resident of Grande Prairie, AB, passed away on Saturday, July 30, 2022, at the age of 92 years.

Ron was born in Compeer, AB, on February 23, 1930. He was the second born twin after brother Don, and the ninth of ten children. The family moved from Compeer to the Elmworth, AB, area when the twins were two months old. He attended Beaver Brooke School with his siblings and went on to graduate from the University of Alberta in 1955 with a degree in Education. He began his career teaching at Elmworth School for a few years before St. Joseph’s in Grande Prairie and then on to the Grande Prairie Junior College in 1965. He moved to the Academic Upgrading department when the new Grande Prairie Regional College opened in 1974. He remained at the college for the rest of his career. He was very inspirational to many of his students and his family. He had a desire to make the people in his life all that they could be.

Ron was a very spiritual man and stayed true to his religion through his life. He was a long-time member of the Knights of Columbus and thoroughly enjoyed the charity work he did through the Knights. He had many passions and hobbies in his life including his religion and teaching, as well as cake decorating, gardening, flowers, travel, horses, and rodeo. He embraced them all and nothing was ever just done, it was done perfectly.

Ron will be sadly missed by a large number of nieces and nephews; sisters in-law Jane and Jean; dear friend Mina Dunn; as well as dear friend and care-giver Laurie Sluymers.

Ron was predeceased by his parents Thomas and Isabella; his siblings and in-laws: Gladys (Jack Ray), Gerald (Dorthy), Pearl (Calvin Canning), Lorne (Mildred), Russell (May), Gordon (Ella), Jim, Don (Jean), and Roy; as well as many nieces and nephews.

A Prayer Service will be held on Thursday, August 11, 2022, from 8:00-9:00pm, at Oliver’s Funeral Home in Grande Prairie (10005 107 Ave.).

A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, August 12, 2022, at 1:00pm, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Grande Prairie (10404 102 St.). Burial to follow at Rio Grande Cemetery.
