Obituary For Rose Larson
Rose Larson, resident of Grande Prairie, went to be with her Lord and Saviour on Monday, March 13, 2017, at the QEII Hospital, at the age of 96 years.
Rose was born on February 17, 1921, in Cut Knife, SK. She lost her mother when she was 14 years old and her father when she was 16 years old. At that time, she moved to Eaglesham, AB to live with her older sister, Hilda Audet. It was there she met and married Palmer Larson in December of 1939. They farmed in the Eaglesham area until the late 1970’s and moved to Wanham in 1979.
Palmer died in 1982 and Rose continued to live in Wanham for several years more years before moving to Spirit River and then finally to Pioneer Lodge in Grande Prairie where she spent the last 20 years of her life.
Rose was always involved in many activities wherever she lived. One of her many activities was knitting. She never sat down without her knitting in her hands and donated hundreds of pairs of mittens, toques, scarves and socks to the Salvation Army every year. The supervisor of the Lodge where she lived commented that there would be many cold heads and hands next winter.
Rose leaves to mourn her passing her sisters: Agnes Rouleau and Margaret Paul; sister in-law Anne Larson; daughter Carol (Arnold) Smyth; son Brent (Wilma) Larson; grandchildren: Taraleen Smyth, Dale (Dana) Smyth, Troy Larson, and Ryan (Shannon) Larson; great-grandchildren: Jessica (Brad) Larson, Kassidy and Mackenzie Smyth, and Abigail, Syver and Hazel Larson; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Rose was predeceased by her husband Palmer, brother Alfred Hoffman, sister Hilda Audet, and grandson Shawn Larson.
A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, March 20, 2017, at 2:00pm, at Oliver's Funeral Home in Grande Prairie (10005 107 Ave.).
Memorial donations may be made to Heart and Stroke of Alberta (Unit 109, 10126 120 Ave., Grande Prairie, AB, T8V 8H9).

Our sincere sympathy Brent and Wilma on the passing of your mother Brent , she was a fine lady and I saw her in the lodge in January while visiting Bill and Mildred Aley, she didn't remember me but she sure did remember my dad and she was so gracious and said thanks you for remembering her and saying hello. She still had a smile on her face when we left and that's how I will remember her. A fine lady and a life well lived.

Dear Carol, Brent and families...We were saddened to hear that Aunt Rose has passed away, but relieved that she is no longer suffering. She was a wonderful lady, always smiling and caring for others, especially family. She will certainly be missed by many. We will miss her Christmas letter which we always looked forward to receiving - even as recent as Christmas 2016. May the fond memories you have of her give you strength during this difficult time and our thoughts and prayers are with you all.
