Obituary For Rose Martha Patterson

It is with our deepest sympathy that we are informing you of the passing of our beloved Rose Patterson. Rose passed the evening of Saturday, May 21, 2022, at Prairie Lake Hospice, at the age of 66 years, after a short battle with cancer.

Rose Patterson was born on October 25, 1955, to Myrtle Lavina Lake and Logan Kenneth Salter, at her home in Burlington County, NS. Rose was raised in Burlington County until the age of 17, when she married and headed out west with the love of her life Leonard Bruce Patterson. Together they built a beautiful life together with their two boys Lance Blair Patterson and Lane Brent Patterson.

Rose loved to create with her hands. She worked as a cabinet maker for over 40 years. Her woodwork and painting creations can be seen throughout many households of her family and friends. Rose touched so many family members and friends with her gifts of love.

Certain people speak their truth, often before they think, and Rose had that gift. You always knew exactly what she thought with her often blunt, but from the heart advice. She was funny and fun-loving. She really lived life as long as it didn’t cost too much! Her little quotes and sayings will long be remembered by everyone, especially her grandchildren, whom often had no idea what she was talking about but boy did they laugh!

Rose had many hobbies throughout her life. She loved animals, especially Chihuahuas. She was an excellent ballplayer and golfed for fun as well. Her main love was creating, whether it was with wood or paint. We do joke about the interior of her house and that it has lost square footage due to her numerous paint jobs.

Rose will be sorrowfully missed by her sons Lance Blair Patterson (Maria), Lane Brent Patterson (Rayelle); grandchildren: Ali Lewis Patterson, Lea-Marie Patterson, and Macey Patterson; as well as her siblings: Carol Salter, Brenda MacKenzie, Mitchell Salter, Wanda MacKenzie, Donna Lynch, and Tanya Sanford.

Rose was predeceased by the love of her life Leonard Patterson; father Logan Salter; mother Myrtle L’Hirondelle; as well as sister Peggy Dargatz.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, June 2, 2022, at 11:00am, at Oliver’s Funeral Home in Grande Prairie (10005 107 Ave.).

A Livestream of the service will be accessible 15 minutes prior to the service on Rose’s obituary on Oliver’s Funeral Home website.
