Obituary For Ross Edward Mather

Ross Mather, a resident of Sexsmith, AB, formerly of Toronto, ON, passed away on Sunday, September 3, 2023, in Grande Prairie, AB, at the age of 73 years.

Ross was born August 3, 1950, in Toronto, where he was also raised. He moved to the Grande Prairie area in the 70s and became heavily involved in the community, with a deep passion for rodeo. Ross was a heavy-duty mechanic for 30+ years. He worked at the Gang Ranch (Williams Lake, BC) for a year in the late 80s and was very proud of his time spent there. Ross spent the last 30 years on his acreage west of Sexsmith, living life to the fullest. He was helpful and caring with a good sense of humour. Ross was very social and very involved with rodeo, team roping and volunteering for local rodeo associations.

Ross will be sadly missed by his wife Laurel Mather; children: Lauralee Mather, Heather Scher (Stacey) and stepson Sean Boyce (Shelley); as well as his grandchildren: Rachel Scher, Brianna Scher, Mara Scher, Sydney Boyce, and Dayten Boyce.

Ross was predeceased by his parents: Fred and Minnie.

The Memorial will be held on Saturday, September 30, 2023, at 4:00 pm, Evergreen Park, Tara Centre, Grande Prairie, AB.

A social/fundraiser will follow the memorial service.
