Obituary For Roy Vernon Grimsrud

Roy Vernon Grimsrud passed away peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, August 12, 2017.

Roy was born in the Grande Prairie Hospital on September 16, 1928. In 1952, he went to Hay River to work for the Department of Fisheries. Shortly after, he married Patricia Sullivan.

After Patricia’s death, Roy took early retirement, and returned home to Wembley. In 1995, he married Aileen Gustafson. They resided in Wembley until his death.

Roy is survived by his loving wife Aileen; daughters: Bev (Charles) Murray and family, Debra Winters (Les Boyd) and family, and Sandra Grimsrud and family, and brother Arthur (Marion).

He was predeceased by his first wife Patricia; parents Ellef and Olive Grimsrud; and brothers Einer, Irvine and Olaf.

A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, August 17, 2017 at 2:00pm, at Forbes Presbyterian Church in Grande Prairie (9635 76 Ave.). Pastor George Malcolm officiating.

Memorial donations may be made to Heart and Stroke of Alberta (Unit 109, 10126-120 Ave., Grande Prairie, AB, T8V 8H9) or to Rising Above (9613 98 St., Grande Prairie, AB, T8V 2E3).

    Dear Aileen , I'm so sorry to read of Roy's passing. He was a long time and very dear patient whom I'll never forget!     It is with great sadness I write this. Yet I know his pain is done. It just hurts to know I won't get to talk to him again. Sami sure enjoyed him when she visited the office.
