Obituary For Ruby Norton Boyer

On Thursday, September 14, 2017, at the age of 95, Ruby Harriet Boyer (nee Norton), passed away peacefully at Mackenzie Place in Grande Prairie, AB.

She was born in Bezanson, AB, on August 7, 1922 to Lily and Jerome Norton and she had 10 siblings.

A lifelong resident of the Grande Prairie area, Ruby will be remembered for her love of baseball. Her favourite team was the Toronto Blue Jays and she rarely missed watching a game on TV. Ruby had a zest for life and loved to socialize, play cards and crib, bird watch, quilt and crochet, and most importantly, spend time with her children and grandchildren.

Ruby will be remembered by her four children: Brian (Alanna) Boyer, Sharon (Dale) Sheridan, Verna (Willy) Cochrane, and Wayne and his special doggie Mocha; her grandchildren: Clayton (Jackie) Boyer, Tyson (Lesa) Boyer, Jennifer (Will) Wilson, Scott (Jenn) Hudson, Grant (Cherie) Sheridan, Rod Sheridan, Shawn (Mandy) Cochrane, and Sandy (Travis) Cochrane-Bredeson; great-grandchildren: Gabe, Tanner, Abigail, Anna, Riley, Kate, Brecken, Jonny, Brynn, Willow, Abby, and Draper; great great-grandson Finn; as well as her sister Grace Menard and her brother Ed Norton. Ruby is in the hearts of many, including her nephews, nieces and numerous friends.

Ruby was predeceased by her loving husband Clarence Boyer; her parents Lily and Jerome Norton; as well as her brothers: Fred, Clyde, Ralph, and Earl; sisters: Olive, Stella, Shirley, and Laura.

A Graveside service will be held on Friday, September 22, 2017 at 2:00pm at the Grande Prairie Cemetery (84th Ave. and 112th St.). Following the service, friends are invited to join the family at the Elks Hall (10806 106 St.) for fellowship and lunch.

    Ruby was a wonderful friend and neighbor who knew us as newly weds and in the earlier years of marriage. Ruby was always so welcoming and had a smile that shone from the inside out. She had a zest for life that I will always admire. My sincerest condolences to the whole family, I know she was loved by all who knew her. Chelsea & Russell Anderson
