Obituary For Ruth Devey Thew
Ruth Eleanor Thew, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away in the Beaverlodge Hospital Saturday, December 23, 2017, at the age of 75 years.
Ruth was born in the Misericordia Hospital in Edmonton, Alberta, to Emily and George Devey on October 16, 1942. Raised in Sexsmith and Easyford until she ventured out on her own, first to Ontario then back to northern Alberta.
She was first married to Manny Marie, then in 1977, she married Stan Thew. They spent 49 years together, trucking, camping and fishing. Ruth worked for Fosters in Beaverlodge and the BMI making many long-lasting friends.
She will be missed beyond words by her mother Emily Severson; sister Jo-Ann Dunlop and family; brother Terry Devey (Brenda Longmuir); step-sisters Karen Fowler and Sandra Goodkey; brother in-law Mike Poulsen and his children: Tracy Collingridge and family, Jen Perchall-Platt and family; grandson Zack Fraser; and all her many friends.
Ruth was predeceased by her husband Stan, daughter Maureen (nee Marie) Fraser, and sister Kitty Poulsen.
We will miss her quick mind, quirky sense of humour, and her loving friendship.
At Ruth’s request she is to be cremated and there will be no Funeral Service or Burial.
Memorial donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
