Obituary For Ruth Emmie Peebles Gronvall
We are incredibly sad to have to announce the passing of our Mom Ruth Emmie Gronvall, on June 20, 2017, at the age of 88 years.
Ruth was born February 8, 1929 and raised in Heart Valley, AB, the only daughter of Harold and Emmie Peebles. To complete her education she moved to Grande Prairie to attend the Catholic Academy.
Her good nature, social skills, and quick wit created a large circle of lifetime friends. The ability to work with numbers led her to the employment at the Alberta Treasury Branch working her way to management, and to the County of Grande Prairie, serving the government for close to 45 years.
Traveling, curling, bowling, horseback riding, especially gardening and later grandchildren were some of her favourite pastimes.
Ruth was very recently predeceased by her husband of 47 years Art Gronvall; brothers: George (Mary) Peebles, Henry Peebles, and Alton Peebles; son Barry Buchanan; as well as nieces, nephews, and in laws.
Surviving Ruth are children: Leona Satter, Rick (Wendy) Buchanan, Linda (Rob) McMillan, Brenda Korpan (Ken), Donald Chidlow, and 3 step-sons Wes (Angi) Gronvall, Lyle (Bobbi) Gronvall, and Shannon Gronvall; as well as 14 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and many nieces nephews and in-laws.
Because Art and Ruth were inseparable, we would like to invite family and friends to join us in a celebration of both their lives on Sunday June 25, 2017, between 2pm - 4pm, at Oliver's Funeral Home in Grande Prairie (10005 107 Ave.).
Memorial donations may be made to The Lung Association (Box 4500 Stn South, Edmonton, AB, T6E 6K2).

Sorry to read of your Moms passing.Enjoyed working with her in the early 70's at the Old Treasury branch. Always remember her open door policy at her home when I would visit there with Hazel & Gail. Sounds like she enjoyed retirement & all her family. Treasure all your memories of a wonderful women.

Lyle, Don and Families, Unfortunately, we didn't realize the connection until we saw Art's obituary and then were shocked to see that Ruth had passed as well. As neighbours of your parents for 26 years please accept our sincere condolences for your loss. We saw and enjoyed Art and Ruth's love of biking, quadding and gardening over the years. Both had a friendly wave which will always be a fond memory for us. Small world-please know we're thinking of you. Warmest regards, Lesley and Gary
