Obituary For Sarah Bowman Agnew Orr
Sarah Bowman Orr (nee Agnew) resident of Grande Prairie, AB, formerly of Vancouver, BC, passed away on Thursday, May 10, 2018, in Grande Prairie, AB, at the age of 96 years.
Sarah was born August 19, 1921 in High Auchneil, Leswalt, County of Wigton, Scotland. She along with her parents Thomas and Sarah and sisters Peggy and Fawny immigrated from Scotland when she was 6 years old. She was raised on the farm at Alberta Beach, AB.
Sarah found the love of her life, George Orr, and they were married on June 15, 1973. They shared almost 30 years together before George passed away on February 26, 2003. Sarah and George’s life together was full of travel, adventures, and love.
Sarah moved to Grande Prairie in 2004 after George’s passing to be close to family in Alberta. She resided at Emerald Gardens in Grande Prairie where she made many friends over the years. Sarah could always be found on the second floor playing cards whether it was solitaire or a game of rummy with her friends. Sarah loved music and enjoyed the live bands that came to play at The Gardens.
Sarah enjoyed her numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren over the years and they brought her much joy.
Her warmth and smile will be missed by all who knew her.
She will be sadly missed by her children: Lynda Bjalek, Margaret (Metro) Toker, Patty Buholzer, and Fred Sutherland; grandchildren: Patty, Clayton, Suzanne, Tammy, Tim, Brett, Chuck, Cecil, April, Tommy, Fred, Chancie, and William; numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews; and sister Fawny Deutch.
Sarah was predeceased by her husband George Orr , son Thomas Grant, sisters Lynda South and Peggy Franczak, and parents Thomas and Sarah Agnew.
A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, May 15, 2018, at 10:00am, at Emerald Gardens (10402 111 St.).
Memorial donations may be made to the Royal Canadian Legion (9912 101 Ave., Grande Prairie, AB, T8V 0X8).
