Obituary For Sargy Raskauskas
Sergejus “Sargy” Raskauskas, resident of Spirit River, AB, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 23, 2020, in Hines Creek, AB, at the age of 91 years.
Sargy was born August 15, 1929 in Lithuania. He came to Canada with his parents, Joseph and Patricia, when he was 8 months old. They lived in the Pigeon Lake, AB area. Being the oldest child, he told many stories of fishing, picking blueberries, and working at a local lumber mill to help feed the family.
Sargy came to the Peace River Country in the 1950’s. He owned and operated a Cat, building countless roads and digging for that precious “gold of the Peace”, gravel. He will be remembered for his sense of humour, tender heart, extreme generosity from which so many benefited, and his love of family.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years Hazel; children Brian (Norma), Rose, Cindy (Orest), Joe (Sherry), Suzan, Betty (Ed), and Kathleen (Rick); 22 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; brother Gordon; and sister Teenie.
Sargy was predeceased by 2 grandsons: Brian Jr. and Benjamin; and 2 brothers: John and Raymond.
A Private Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday August 29, 2020 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Spirit River.

Kathy, I wanted this message to be for your Mother, brothers and sisters, as my message for you would be more personal. My heart is saddened by the loss of your Husband, Dad and grandfather, like as if it was my own father. Since Kathy and I have been through so much together and our families really mirrored each other, I really sympathize with what you are going through. It doesnâ??t matter how old he was, it is still a difficult loss. He was a great father and will be missed! My thoughts and prayers are with you.
