Obituary For Shane Allan Kovacs

It is with great sadness that the family of Shane Allan Kovacs announce his sudden passing on Wednesday, December 28, 2016, at the age of 56 years.

Shane will be lovingly remembered and missed by his wife Karen; children: Jessica, Nick (Natacha), and Max; grandchildren: Liam, Olivia, Daxon and Kallie; mother Verna Kovacs, sister Sharon Riendeau (Albert) and family; brother Michael Kovacs (Diane); mother and father in-law Jean and Tony MacKinnon and family.

Shane was predeceased by his father Louis Kovacs and brother Kim Kovacs.

Shane’s children and grandchildren brought him a lot of joy. He was very proud of them all. Shane will always be remembered for his patience, generosity and sense of humour. Shane learned shoe repair from his grandfather in Red Deer and opened Northwest Shoe Repair in 1980. He went on to learn upholstery and proudly opened his own shop, Recovery Upholstery, in 2011.

A Funeral Service for Shane will be held on Monday, January 2, 2016, at 11:00am, at Christ Church Anglican in Grande Prairie (6610 Poplar Drive).

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.

Sharon do you remember me Michele Perrin. Sorry to hear about your brother. I had a dream a couple of nights ago about how he looked after me before I had the baby and he was Danny Holmes best friend. My friend looked up his name and found it under the death notices. The baby that I had was a boy named Kenneth Holmes and he is 43 years old and lives in Spokane Washington. He had two girls . God Bless you and your family. Thanks for giving me all the clothes. Love Michele

My dear Karen, (Miss K, as I used to call you), I am so shocked and so deeply sorry for your loss. Shane was so important in your life. You and I talked a lot about our husbands, back in Claresholm. I just want you to know that I am thinking about you and praying for you and your family. Monique

My sincere condolences to Karen and the entire Kovacs family for your loss. Although I can't be there with you my thoughts are with you all. I will always cherish the memories of my life long friend since grade 1. Shane's kindness, generosity and sense of humor was his greatest attractions. I still have and will always treasure the rock he gave me for my 16th birthday. We always had a good laugh over that rock. Priceless laughs! I just wish there was more of them over the years as we raised our families and life kept us busy. In our younger years we both enjoyed billiards and playing poker with Mike, Kim, Danny and his dad, who taught us teenagers life lessons in many forms. Shane was good at any thing he put his mind too and he mastered the roles of husband, fatherhood, brother, son and friend very well. May you rest in peace Shane. Thanks for being my eternal friend Dan Valois
