Obituary For Sharon Margaret Coates

We are saddened to announce the passing of our beloved Sharon Coates, resident of Grande Prairie, AB, formerly of Glenwood, NL, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 19, 2022, surrounded by family and friends, at the age of 58 years old. Sharon was born in Glenwood, NL, on September 14, 1964, to Charlie and Susie Ralph; with 15 siblings, she was the baby girl of 7 brothers and 9 sisters. Having met the love of her life at just 14 years of age, she married her best friend and life-long partner, Herbert Coates, on December 21, 1985, at Riverside Pentecostal Church in Glenwood, NL. Housed in the tiny town of Glenwood; where Sharon was a baker and Herb worked at the local Sawmill while raising their 2 children for 27 years before moving to Grande Prairie in 2005.

Sharon was a passionate baker and loved to share her goodies with friends and family. Past times were filled with visiting with family and friends while enjoying a cup of Tetley tea on Sundays after church. Sharon loved her family more than anything, whether it was baking cookies or tea buns for everyone, spoiling her 5 grandchildren, or sitting around the campfire at the lake with family and friends telling stories, drinking Pepsi and laughing into the wee hours.

She will be greatly missed by her husband Herbert Coates, son Andrew Coates (Kayla Matchett); her daughter Andrea Dunphy (Heith Johnson) her beloved grandkids: Charlie and Corbin Dunphy, Robby, Madi and Andre Coates. Sharon was predeceased by her parents; Charlie and Susie Ralph; brothers Jerry and Charlie; sisters Viola and Ruth. A Public Viewing will be on held on Tuesday, December 27, 2022, at Christ Community Church from 6:00-8:00pm, followed by a Celebration of Life on Wednesday, December 28, 2022, at Christ Community Church at 2:00pm.

A Public Livestream Viewing will be held at Riverside Pentecostal Church in Glenwood, NL on Wednesday, December 28, 2022 at 5:30pm.

To the Coates Family, So sorry to hear about Sharon's passing. She was a lovely lady. Robby thought a lot of her and spoke of her often. She was a joy to be around and always had a smile on her face. Draw strength from your family and friends in the days to come. Sharon will always be in your hearts and watching over you all.
