Obituary For Sharon Stokke Norton
Sharon “Shanny” Norton (nee Stokke), resident of Wembley went to her heavenly home on Friday, July 14, 2017, at Grande Prairie, AB, at the age of 72 years
Sharon was born on October 2, 1944, in Grande Prairie and was the youngest daughter of Wes and Myrt Stokke. She grew up in Wembley and lived most of her life there. She loved living in the country and riding with her dad in the combine at harvest time.
She completed grade 10 and then took 1 year of Business College to become a secretary. While working for the Bank of Nova Scotia in 1962, she met the love of her life, Ken Norton, and they were married on July 17, 1965. Their daughter Natalie, was born in 1968 and son, Scott, in 1970.
Sharon was a very kind, loving, generous person with a great sense of humour and infectious laugh. She loved all animals, but especially dogs, cats and horses. When her grandchildren were born, they were the light of her life. She so enjoyed spending time with them.
She will be sadly missed by her daughter Natalie, son Scott, grandchildren Peyton and Rylee as well as her sister Joyce (Dan) Balisky, brother Dale (Diane) Stokke, sisters in-law Elaine Stokke, Carol and Barry Edgar, Lil Ray and Pauline Norton and many nieces, nephews and friends.
She was predeceased by her parents, Wes and Myrt Stokke, her husband Ken Norton, nephew Lance Balisky, brother Ray Stokke, sister in-law Bev Norton and parents in-law, Ralph Norton and Edna Champagne.
The Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, July 19, 2017, at 1:00pm, at the Wembley Recreation Centre in Wembley, AB (9831 97 St.).
Memorial donations may be made to Wembley and District, Arts, Culture and Historical Society, PARDS (Peace Area Riding for the Disabled Society) (8202 84 St., Grande Prairie, T8X 0L6) or to the charity of one’s choice.
