Obituary For Sharon (Zamorsky) Quamme Laughy

Sharon Arleane Laughy resident of Wanham, AB, passed away on Wednesday, September 18, 2019, at 79 years of age.

Sharon was born in Vernon, BC, to Dora and Edward Quamme on August 25, 1940. At age two, her father tragically lost his life in WWII. Later Dora married Arthur Tansem, who was a kind and caring second father to Sharon. In 1957, she married Taras Zamorsky. They had two daughters and three sons and a very full life. She later bought Idletime Enterprises and built a successful trophy and engraving business. Many years after she and Taras parted ways, she was reintroduced to a high school friend, Harvey Laughy and they married in 2004.

Sharon put her heart & soul into her family, to her that was number one. She was also an avid volunteer in the community and contributed in a variety of capacities. Sharon loved to write and did many creative writing projects through the years. She also enjoyed her coin and stamp collection. She was the queen of bench shows at many fairs. Sharon loved to challenge her mind. Right up to her last days when her body was compromised, and she wasn’t as mobile, not a day would go by without puzzles and word games on her lap.

Sharon will forever be remembered for her spunky attitude and wonderful sense of humour. She loved to lend a hand and if she took on a task, you could count on it being done to perfection! She will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her husband of 15 years, Harvey Laughy; her children: Tara (Ted) Sallis, Heather (Garry) Tansem, Doug (Karen) Zamorsky, David (Tammy) Zamorsky, Terry (Laura) Zamorsky; grandchildren: Rhonda (Brian) Yurchyshyn, Harmony (Shawn) Sipma, Tyrell Sallis, Riley (Hayley) Tansem, Reid Tansem, Parker Tansem, Jennifer (Jordan) Berget, Bailey Zamorsky, Jamie-Lee Zamorsky, Austin Zamorsky; great-grandchildren: Daelyn, Kody, MacKenzie, Grace and Emma; nieces and nephews: Darlene (Bryon) Spooner, Cliff (Cindy) Hucul, Gail (Debbie) Hucul, Heather Ralston; step-children: Russel (Candy) Laughy, Leanne (Ken) Nystoruk, Taralyn (Art) Taylor; her sister Maxine (Stan) McRae; brother in-law Merose Zamorsky; and many cherished friends and neighbours.

She was predeceased by her first husband of 24 years, Taras Zamorsky; mother Dora Tansem; father Edward Quamme; step-dad Arthur Tansem; sisters and brothers in-law: Jean (Emil) Hucul, Lucille Zamorsky, Sandy Zamorsky, Sonia (Don) Ralston, and Ruth Zamorsky.

The family would like to thank the medical team in the post-surgical ward on the 4th floor at the QEII Hospital, with a special thank you to Dr. Jones. As well, many thanks to Dr. Spruyt and staff at the Central Peace Health Complex in Spirit River.

Sharon’s Celebration of Life will be held at the Wanham COCO Hall on Friday, September 27, 2019, at 2:00pm. Reverend Dave Squires will lead the service and Interment will follow at the Wanham Cemetery. Luncheon will be provided afterwards by the Birch Hill Seniors.
