Obituary For Sherman Sunshine
Sherman Sunshine, a resident of Sturgeon Lake Cree Nation passed away on Saturday, March 1, 2025, at the age of 53 years.
Sherman was born in Valleyview, AB to Victoria Sunshine and Eugene Goodswimmer.
Sherman was a man of many skills; he worked as a heavy equipment operator in the oilfield. Always smiling and loved to joke around with others. He was not one to shy away from helping others, but also “he’d rather be fishing”. He was very protective of those he loved. He loved fishing, camping, hunting …anything to do with the bush and nature. And once again …Fishing.
Sherman will be sadly missed by his life partner Tammy Chowace and their children: Shania Gullion, JD Sunshine, Lorraine Chowace, Patrick Terpsma. His siblings: Sheldon (Kerry) Sunshine, Spencer, Sheri, Nathan, Jason, Jolayne, Jake, Jenna, James and Kristin. Grandchildren: Jermaine Anderson, Jeriah Anderson-Gullion and Maddox Chowace.
He was predeceased by his sons Tayven Alexis and Babyboy Sunshine, Kukoom Christy and brothers Jeremy and Jared as well as Sister Jodie.
The Wake will be held on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, a private viewing for family members will take place at 3:00 pm, and the viewing for the community will commence at 4:00 pm
Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, at 1:00 pm at the Sturgeon Lake Community Hall.

My Heart goes out to all family and friends who has been affected by the loss of someone close Me and Sherman would always practice our fighting skills on each other after the normal hockey practice was completed. We would tussle and share words on what needed to be worked on. We never really threw down but we knew when the time came that preparing each other for it we would throw down for not only ourselves but for our teammates. Sometime he bested me and sometimes I bested him but we always came away laughing or smiling. Gonna miss seeing him around and always missed the "how's the fishing there?" That he would ask even knowing that I don't fish. Rest in Peace Brother.....until we tussle again!
