With much sadness, the family of Shirley Nelson announces her passing on Friday, November 3, 2017, at the age of 89 years.

Born in Regina, SK, Shirley was raised along with three sisters and six brothers on the prairie farm during the depression years. As a young woman, Shirley, moved to the bright lights of Calgary. There she met and in time, married Robert, a handsome, young man in his RCAF uniform.

In the years ahead, with several moves, Robert and Shirley prospered in life, while successfully raising their four children.

With retirement, they enjoyed the many friends and family who came to visit, winters in Arizona, travel and camping. They enjoyed life and the years went by too fast.

Wherever they were and whatever they were doing, Shirley always had kind words and hugs for all.

Robert passed on after 56 years of marriage, and Shirley moved into Points West Living, where she lived her final years.

Those left to cherish memories include: daughter Sheri (Calvin Church); sons: Daryl (Sue), Keith (Gaby), and Wayne (Jody); several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as numerous friends.

The Nelson family would like to express gratitude and appreciation to the staff at Points West Living, who cared for Shirley, and special thanks to Angelita Ramos, Shirley’s main caregiver and companion.

A Celebration of Shirley’s Life will be held in the Spring, when flowers are blooming and life is renewing.
