Obituary For Stan Percy James Hook

Stan Percy James Hook was born on December 19, 1956, to Robert Clifford Hook and Buryl Koly (nee Myrtle Viola Radley) in Grande Prairie, AB. Sadly, on Thursday, December 19, 2024, after a long battle and great determination, Stan Hook passed away on his 68th birthday.

Born and raised in Grande Prairie, Stan was the continuation of the Hook family legacy that his father and grandfather had begun. He felt grounded and at home in this city, leaving only for a few short years to pursue his schooling and work in Grande Cache, AB. Stan was a journeyman electrician, starting his career with Titan Electric, then transferring to P&G, which eventually became Weyerhaeuser, where he worked for twenty-seven years.

Beyond his career, Stan loved being outdoors, and talked highly of his ski-doo or quadding trips up to Kakwa Falls. One of his greatest joys was taking his motorcycle for a ride on the open road. He also enjoyed being with family or friends around a campfire amongst the trees; or a good nap on the couch in front of the TV. He built his kids snow forts and drove them crazy with his jokes. He believed fully in the motto “tease the ones you love” and he had a lot of love to give.

Stan is survived by his son Cole; daughter Jessica (Keenan); grandson Kaiden; sister Valerie (Ken); niece Megan (Andrew), great-nephew William; as well as his sister Lynne (Randy).

Stan was predeceased by his father Robert; mother Buryl; and brother Dale.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to the Grande Prairie Care Centre, Director of Nursing (Rachel), Administrator (Letty), and all the staff for the many years of care they provided to Stan. We would also like to express our appreciation to the nursing staff at the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital Emergency Department.

A Celebration of Life will be held for Stan in the Spring, to be announced at a later date. For those who wish to attend, please email jessrhook@gmail.com and details will be communicated when available.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bandaged Paws Animal Rescue Association or the MS Society of Canada.
