Obituary For Stanley Nilsson
Stanley Daren Nilsson (April 28, 1948 - June 11, 2020), passed away surrounded by loved ones at Prairie Lakes Hospice in Grande Prairie, AB at the age of 72 years.
Stan had a lifelong passion for the homebuilding industry working as a carpenter, in lumberyard sales, and ending his career in real estate. His true passion was his relationship with God that was shown through his love for people, his numerous leadership roles within the Grande Prairie Alliance Church, and ultimately using construction experience as a missionary in Mexico and Cuba.
He will be dearly missed by his wife Ruth; his children and grandchildren: Derek and Kathy (Ashley and Kyle) Nilsson, Rae and Ken (Eli, Ella and Emerson) Roberts and James and Angie (Jenna, Tyler and Josh) Nilsson.
Stan is also survived by his siblings: Diana Nilsson, Johanna (Colin) Ruxton, Kevin (Brenda) Nilsson and Karen (Everett) George, sisters-in-law Carol Nilsson and Barb Nilsson.
He is also survived by his first wife Carol’s family, Christine Schell, Elinor (Oral) Benterud, Stan (Lynne) Schamehorn, Harvey (Kim) Schamehorn, as well as Ruth’s brother Rod (Karen) Mitchell.
He was predeceased by his parents Daren and Tillie, his brothers Dwight and Ivan and his first wife of 34 years, Carol.
A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday June 17, 2020, at 11:00am, at the Grande Prairie Alliance Church (15502 102 St. Grande Prairie, AB) with interment to follow at the Grande Prairie Cemetery (84th Ave and 112th St.). Due to COVID public health restrictions, the service will be limited in numbers. A live stream will be broadcasted and can be found on either the Grande Prairie Alliance Church Prairie Alliance Church website (www.gpalliance.org) or their Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/AllianceChurch/).
Memorial donations may be made to the Grande Prairie Alliance Church Tijuana Project.

Heartfelt sympathy and condolences to you, Ruth; Derek, Rae, James and families; Diana, Johanna, Kevin and Karen and families; Carol, Barb and families, at the loss of a husband, father and father-in-law, grand-father, sibling and sibling in law, and uncle. I've known Stan, for most of my life, I'm thinking. He was most pleasant and nice to chat with. I know he touched the lives of many, over the years. I pray for each one of you, peace and comfort, at this time and in the journey ahead. Heaven, is our Home and earth, is our footstool. One day, we will all meet again, on that beautiful shore.

We were very saddened to hear of his passing and know he will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
